    All the students of MBA (HRD) & MHRD 4th semester are hereby informed that their dissertation viva-voice is scheduled to be held on 18th June 2012. at 10.00 am sharp in the department.

    All the students are directed to submit their dissertation report in two copies duly signed by concern supervisor latest by 11th June 2012. Failing to do so, students would not be allowed to appear in the dissertation viva.
    Students are required to be present at 10.00 am on 18th June, 2012 in complete uniform.

    Special Lecture of Prof. M. Patwardhan

    On 16th April 2012, Prof. Manoj Patwardhan from Indian Institute of Information Technology & Management (IIITM), Gwalior enriched students on the emerging areas in HRM. He focused on the ecological system of HRM and the need to maintain balance for the sustainability of the organization. During the deliberation he took up issues related to organization learning, innovation and creativity, and employee involvement. In the process he emphasized on the application of these interventions for effective utilization of Human Capital. The students actively participated in the learning process and responded to the discussion. The use of projector made the process more lively.

    One Day Workshop on Emerging Issues in HRM

    Dr.Ajay Kumar Singh, Associate Professor , Delhi School of Economics, Delhi University was the resource person in one day workshop in the department. He focused on the emerging issues in the field of human resource management and the necessity to be spiritual for better decision making at workplace. The session was vibrant with illustrations and audio- visual clippings. Students actively participated in the process of action learning and learnt some new techniques that would bring about change in their personality and lead to inner growth leading to success through confidence and creating positive energy around them.

    Dr.Singh shared some of his rich experiences with the students. He is a visiting Professor in universities abroad and has been awarded with many awards in the field of research and social work. The Head of the department extended his gratitude to Dr. Singh for sparing some time for the students and enriching them.

    Dr. Pathardikar won second Best Paper Award in XIII International Conferance

    It was a proud moment for the department when the paper entitled “Career Commitment & Career Satisfaction: Role of Ethics and Affective Commitment presented by Dr. Avinash D. Pathardikar, Head, Department of HRD, in the XIII Annual International Seminar on Ethics, Morality, and Spirituality was adjudged for the second best paper award. The International seminar held by DSPSR (Delhi School of Professional Studies and Research) on January 4-5, 2012 in New Delhi, venue India Habitat Centre.

    The significance of ethics at workplace and its role in developing career commitment leading to career satisfaction was highlighted in the deliberation. It was based on empirical research. The implication for hr practitioners and corporate houses was sighted. It added to the earlier understanding of career satisfaction. It was attended by eminent people from Indian and multinational corporate houses and academicians from USA, Australia, Jordon , Malaysia, Kenya , Nigeria, Iran, etc.

    The students of Department of HRD visited Indian Farmers Fertilizer Co-operative Limited, Phulpur, Allahabad. The one day visit was organized to give the students a feel of the organization and its working. Mr. Krishna Kumar, Deputy General Manager (Training & Development) of IFFCO welcomed the students. After showing a documentary of the inception of IFFCO, the students were taken to the plant. They observed the manufacturing process at different stages and interacted with the employees. Mr. Pradeep Bhola, HR-Executive, briefed the students on Human Resource functions in the organization and focused on the necessity and importance of trained workforce for managing the automated process using high level of technology. Students were provided delicious breakfast after the induction and lunch after the plant visit

    All the students of I & III semester of MBA(HRD) and MHRD are hereby informed that an industrial visit to IFFCO, Phulpur plant has been scheduled on 24/11/2011. Bus will leave at 7:30am from University Guest House for IFFCO. Further, the students are required to get their name enrolled to Mr. Atish Gupta.

    Effective People Management Skills

    In the series of lecture and workshop for personality development of students, Mr. Minoo Fali Titina, GM, Human Resources, Soluscare Health Solutions, Mumbai Delivered on Communication skills, Act of listening, Time Management and Stress Management. In the programme, he focused on the skills required at workplace for generating effectiveness.

    The sessions were highly interactive and was full of live examples and illustrations which attracted the interest of students and induced good understanding on the areas. He appriciated the thirst for knowledge among the students and appriciated the efforts made for holistic development of the students in the department. students from the department of HRD, Financial Studies and Business Economics participated in the workshop.

    Communication workshop

    In the series of activities for personality development of the students, department of HRD organized a session, where Prof. A.K. Mukharjee, MONIRBA, University of Allahabad delivered a vibrant talk on the elements of communication and its role in making of an individuals’ personality. He focused on the importance of creativity and an attitude to look at things in a positive and constructive way through communication style and body language. He highlighted the areas on which the students can work out and build their personality. The deliberation was filled with examples from real life. Students enjoyed the session and were determined to work on the suggested ways to enrich their life. They were highly motivated and keen to attend such sessions conducted by the department regularly for providing the students an exposure to the real dynamics in management and an opportunity to be a part of such exercise were key inputs are given by eminent and experienced people in the field. Atish, student of 3rd semester expressed the need of such activities for developing personality and professional approach. Ritvika Singh, student of 1st semester requested Prof. Mukharjee for autograph, which shows students enthusiasm and involvement.

    One day workshop on Personality Development and Motivation was organized by the Department of HRD on 17th August, 2011. Mr. Hemant Kumar, Director-HR, Indorama (Indian Multinational), Mumbai addressed the gathering of faculty members and students coming from variouss streams of management.

    He presented students with some of the very useful tips to be successful in their future corporate life. With his live examples from corporate world he, motivated students and filled them with positive energy and attitude.

    In the second session of the personality development and motivation workshop professor S.K. Tripathi, Mzumbe University, Tanzania acted as a resource person. Professor Tripathi with the help of Case study method explained to the students about organizational problems and providing solutions.

    Mr. Hemant Kumar, Director-Human Resources, Indorama, Mumbai conducted placement interviews for the HRD students of the department. After conductinf interviews Mr. Kumar commented positively on the competency level of the students and said that ‘the stuff in VBS Purvanchal University is worth comparable with any other University located at better places’.

    Prof. Santosh Rangnekar from Indian Institute of Technology, Rourkee, visited the Department of HRD on 30th of July, 2011. He is a distinguished academician and specializes in the field of HRD. His rich experience as a practitioner and academician is a special contribution to the field. He started his career in corporate sector, after eleven years of exposure in the field, he joined academics. Worked in premier institutions like Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management, Gwalior and Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, published more than 75 articles in national and international journals of repute. He has conducted various training programmes, handled different projects of national level and given consultancies to various organizations.

    Effective oral communication

    A one day workshop on “Effective Oral Communication is scheduled on 27th August’2011 in the Department of HRD (Conferarce Hall). Prof. A.K.Mukherjee from Motilal Neheru Institute of Business Administration, University of Allahabad, Allahabad will be the expert of the workshop. The workshop aims at developing the communication skills among the management students and enhancing their ability in giving presentations, interviews, and day to day interactions.
    The interested students are required to register themselves in the department on or before 25th August’11. The registered participants will be provided material, working lunch and certificate of participation.

    It was a glorious moment for the university when Dr. Sangeeta Sahu, Reader in the Department of HRD was felicitated with “Kamala Award-2009 for best paper published in the year, entitled as “Competency of Executives in BPO in Indian Journal of Training and Development [IJTD] vol. XXIX, January-March 2009, ISTD, New Delhi. The Indian Society for Training & Development (ISTD), established in April 1970, is a national level professional & non-profit society registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. It has a large membership of individuals and institutions involved in the area of training and HRD from Government, Public and Private Sector Organisations & Enterprises; Educational and Training Institutions and other Professional Bodies.

    The society is affiliated to the International Federation of Training and Development Organisations (IFTDO), USA and Asian Regional Training and Development Organisations (ARTDO), Manila. ISTD publishes a quarterly Journal on “Indian Journal of Training & Development IJTD. The award was conferred to Dr. Sangeeta Sahu in the 41st Annual Convention of ISTD, held in Kota in January 2011.
