    Introduction

    About the Department: The Department of Physics was established in 1997 to impart the knowledge of Physics to the graduates of Engineering (B.Tech.) in the Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering as well as Computer Science and Engineering branches initially started in the Uma Nath Singh Institute of Engineering and Technology. Three new branches of engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering and Information Technology were started in 2002. Doctoral (Ph.D.) programme in the department was started in the 2017-18 session. The department has awarded the Ph.D. degree to four research scholars to date. Currently, four research scholars are enrolled for Ph.D. degree in the department. The department has two laboratories: one for B. Tech. students in AS-106 and the other for research scholars, known as the Research Laboratory in AS 310 in the main building of the Faculty of Engineering & Technology. The department boasted of its teaching, learning and research in the form of research projects from various agencies, including SERB, UGC and the U.P. government, and the publication of many research papers in different Science Citation Indexed (SCI) and peer-reviewed journals. Teachers of the department have used the ICT facility for teaching during COVID-19. The department's objective is to establish a framework for promoting interdisciplinary and outcome-based research environments and to encourage teachers and students of the department to experience various research activities both in India and overseas.
